Support the Cultural Wellness Center

Statement From The Executive Director

Dear Community,

As the bitter cold bears down on Minnesota, we bring the light of culture and community to sustain us. The holiday season is a time to honor our cultural heritage, ancestors, and future.

As we reflect on 2022, we are grateful to everyone who joined our Health Hub classes, participated in Moving from Race to Culture cohorts, experienced our Rites of Passage, got vaccinated through our community outreach, transformed their health through our Culture Wells, and shared with us at community events about Rondo or Lake Street. We exist as an extension of all of you, our community.

Cultural self-study, memory healing, and community building are ongoing, and we are grateful to be with you on the journey. As you consider your year-end giving, please remember the Cultural Wellness Center. We invite you to give to Dreamland on 38th, our capital campaign to build the future home for our work, or to the Cultural Wellness Center more generally.

In mid-January, we will unveil an interview between Don Shelby and Anthony Taylor, where they reflect on the history and revitalization of the South Minneapolis Black cultural district. In the meantime, please enjoy this preview of what’s to come.

Hotep,

Elder Atum
