The Cultural Wellness Center will be expanding Black Families Thriving 2.0. It began as a 15-month pilot program in partnership with Hennepin County and the Birth Justice Collaborative. Starting October 1, navigators from the pilot program and Akhmiri Sekhr-Ra, recently named the CWC’s cultural bearer, will continue their work with the 30 Black families. The expansion will include an added component of elder support and guidance. It will evaluate the impact that CWC has had on the cultural health and wellness of participant families. We are grounding our evaluation in African American cultural practices of the old ways of parenting. The expansion of this program is a result of a two-year partnership with Medica.
